Survey Monkey Music magazine research feedback
After waiting for about a week, thanks to survey monkey its tallied
up my results which you can see down be low
I’m very pleased with the amount of responses I got, I thought for one of my questions everyone one would want a large photo spread across but in fact they would rather have several images spread around with text by it which was very interesting to see.In the first question it seems like more girls answered this survey then boys
In the first question overall 73.68% of people who filled
out this questionnaire were female, this gives me an idea that my target
audience is will be more feminine then masculine, by knowing this it will change a few aspects of my final magazine
cover, for example on the front cover if I was to include a female model on the
front cover I would want to dress them more appropriately, making them look
more classy then sexual, furthermore I would avoid thick chunky text style as
this is more associated on males magazines. However there will still be a male
audience that will be interested in this, so I have to make sure I don’t lean
to far into the stereotype of females, by this I mean I should avoid making
things too pink, and too ‘cute’ instead I should go will more asexual colours
like grey, black, white.
The majority of the people who have answered my survey were
aged 16-20 which is 84.21%
of my overall results I got back., Because of this I don’t have to restrict myself
on age rating for example, if the majority of the people who filled out the survey
were under 16 I would have to make sure nothing is too graphic e.g. no nudity violent
or inappropriate images furthermore I would have to look into more recent jazz
artists, but because the target audience is more mature they’re more likely to
know older jazz artists. I could also make those references in the final make of my magazine
The trending answer seems to be people are in school/collage, it would make sense because most of the people that have filled this out were aged 16-20. Because of this I have to keep in mind that people normally in collage/school tent to be more applied to the latest trends, some thing more monden. Because of this I have to make sure what my model for my images are wearing clothes that are considered in fashion now.
This question determines the type of language i will be using through out the magazine, for example the majority of people who answered this question barely read magazines, and from the last question they are still in school. This would suggest to me that the language i should use should be shorter, less complex words that the typical 16-25 would know. this is very important for my double page spread when i write out the feature.
In this question the majority of people voted for the cheapest option which i am not surprised at all, one. the most of the people to answered this would be in school/collage making it hard for them to acquire money. This will help me price my magazine appropriately.
The majority of people answered that

This is my survey for my Music magazine research, I used survey monkey to create it, I found it easy to use but it was frustrating only having 9 questions for free as I wanted to ask a lot more different questions, how every I thought that overall it was a lot more simpler to do then to write it all out on word then calculate the results by using Exel,

This week I evaluated and compared two magazines, I have yet
to upload it to my blog but I plan to do so very soon, I evaluated the pictures
I have not used for the front cover and started to work on my contents page.
For this week I plan to complete my condense page and do
more reassure on jazz magazines, I found
out a close friend of mine will be preforming at the o2 as a backup singer, I thought
it would be a great idea to do my feature page on the night, I’ll be able to
take photos of them whiles there practising for the night, I’ll have to look
for a good quality camera.
Pictures that didn’t make it to final cover
Here are some of my pictures I took that did not make it on
my front cover, I’ll explain for each of
them why they did not make it in the front cover.
I did not like the camera angle of this picture as it seemed
too stretched out, it includes unassay things in the background that make it
look messy and unprofessional, the teacher was closing her eyes and smiling
making it look like she having a conversation whiles I wanted the teacher to
look serious as I knew I wanted to send a good image to the parents reading.
Although this photo looks nice I felt like the people I was
taking a picture of looked too stiff and I wanted them to look natural and give
a nice smile instead of looking directly at the camera
This photo had too much mess in the background, this could be back for a picture on the front cover as it can give a negative image to the readers that the school is unorganized
I had the same problem with this picture, it had students in the background talking and not doing their work, i wanted to make sure that the three students were the main focus.
This picture was too far away and the model looked little awkward,
i wanted to have a picture where she gave a natural smile and looks more
relaxed
My school publication front cover
In this slide I have both my draft and my final version side
by side; I thought it would be a good way to compare these two like this.
As you can see there are a few differences in the draft,
there is no school slogan, the circled image got bigger and I removed one text
box near the main image. The reasons for this is that when I making the final
one I started to run out of space so I had to make things smaller or just cut
things out completely.
I am very happy without it turned out, I have to make sure I
keep up the same colour scheme for the contest page as well so they think in
together well.
Production diary
This week I managed to finish my school publication front cover
along with its evaluation, I’m sadly behind with work as I still need to do my contest
page and the evaluation with it, I plan to work
during my free periods and come back after school to catch up with the work. I
did come across a few issues with importing my pictures to the computer system;
the pictures I originally took where deleted the next day so I had to take new
pictures during the lesson, apart from that inconvenience the work to actually
make it went smoothly.
I have learnt that publisher can frame pictures in different
styles, so instead of having that generic square box you can make it slightly
rounded or completely round, I will keep this in mind for later on
School publication evaluation
In this evaluation I talk about; font sequence, colour chart for my text and background.
This is my school publication evaluation for my front cover,
in this slide I talk about my design choices. I have included all my alternate design
choices and the choices I thought were horrible and explained why.
